YouTech Conference 2017

Recommendable are speaking at the YouTech Conference next Weekend, and so we have invited them to write about their conference! It’s going to be a fantastic event, full of amazing speakers – a free conference filled with the best and brightest in Technology. It’s on the 29th of April, we hope to see you there!

YouTech is Southampton University‘s flagship conference on business and entrepreneurship, started by Fish on Toast in 2016. Over 200 students attended the day-long event, all eager to build their future, develop skills and get inspiration in their entrepreneurial journeys.  The event was a great success and that’s why Fish on Toast decided to bring it back, bigger and better.

YouTech puts together Innovation, Careers and Start-ups in Technology into a series of speaker sessions, panel discussions and practical workshops. Some of the last year’s companies, such as Google and LinkedIn, are back with sessions on digital marketing and online media. We have also opened our doors to IBM and Accenture, and to a large number of speakers from other organisations. The aim is to engage students with career guidance, and to match aspiring entrepreneurs with mentors to help them build world-changing start-ups.

The University of Southampton, especially Fish on Toast, is the home of many successful entrepreneurship stories. Numerous alumni have moved on from university and started businesses of their own (including Recommendable); we regularly reach out and bring them back to share their experiences with our student members. This year we have invited the winners of the Enterprise Fund to discuss how they came up with their social enterprise ideas, and how the funding is enabling them to take their stories further.

We have invited the StartUp teams enrolled with the Fish on Toast accelerator program, Sparks. Sparks helps students grow and businesses, they’ll be talking about how businesses and students can collaborate. Sparks is constantly looking for the next million dollar idea. Lastly, some of the companies enrolled in the Future Worlds mentorship program will be present on the day.

What is most important is our incredible Speakers, we have people leading World Changing Artifical Intelligence startups, global technology startups as well as Multinationals like Google and Linkedin. This conference is something every attendee will be able to get a lot out of.
