Tell us a bit about yourself?
Hi, I’m Trish Springsteen, a multi international award winning speaker, mentor, coach, author and radio host.
I’m an introvert, an advocate for breast cancer and those left behind by suicide, having had breast cancer and lost our son to suicide in 2007.
I am absolutely passionate about speaking and communication knowing first hand the confidence and self-belief that can be gained from having speaking skills.
I love purple, collecting unicorns, reading, travelling and having fun.
Have a BBus Health Admin, a Cert 4 in training – over 20 years experience in speaking and training.
Love mentoring – I believe in my clients until they have the confidence to believe in themselves and then I help them with techniques and strategies to grow their business.
I do what I do because I know that if you Believe, Act, Share then you can do and be all that you want to be.
When I first left school – I was the wallflower, an introvert – did not like speaking. My concept of networking was to find the tallest pot plant, the clock and the exit sign. I would stand behind the pot plant – 10 minutes and out the exit. Never spoke to anyone. As time went on I would avoid speaking – I would delegate or if I had to would not be very successful at it. Looking back I know I missed many opportunities because of my lack of confidence, self-belief and lack of speaking skills.
It was not until I met a mentor who pushed and pulled me into speaking, who convinced me I had a story and a message to share, who gave me the confidence to speak.
Those speaking skills gave me the confidence to step up and speak to train – to eventually open my own business.
Those speaking skills helped me when we lost our son to suicide and I had to give the eulogy at the funeral – there was no second chance to do due to justice to Craig’s life. I did it – and many weeks later I had the AHA moment when I realised it was the confidence and skills I had gained from speaking and presenting that allowed me to speak for our son.
When I was diagnosed with breast cancer – it was my speaking skills that allowed me to say yes to a video interview on the importance of breast screening and to speak as an advocate which eventuated in the video being on the breast screening website.
When I wrote my first book with all the problems and challenges, it was those speaking skills that have helped me share those problems so that other new authors know what to do.
It’s the confidence gained from speaking that has helped me to grab opportunities that have helped with my business. Opportunities such as being a radio host, nominating and entering business awards and leveraging those business awards with speaking.
It is the confidence, structure, and techniques from speaking that has allowed me to present on video and webinars.
Yes I was and introvert and yes I still am, however, I no longer hide at network meetings, I love speaking and sharing my message, I love presenting on videos sharing my stories. I love my business that allows me to help others have the same confidence, self-belief, and joy in their message.
What is Trischel company all about?
My company is Trischel – innovative communication training. Business owners work with me because they know I can help them have the confidence and self-belief to leverage their business with speaking and communication.
Typically I mentor introverts, authors and advocates to have the confidence to step up and share their message with those who need to hear it.
Corporations and businesses work with me because they know I can give their CEOs, Managers, and staff the confidence and structure to make speaking easy to connect with their teams, with their peers and to present in the Boardroom.
I believe every introvert has the courage to step up and speak, that every author has a story a message locked inside their book, that every advocate has a passion and message that needs to be shared with those who need to hear it.
My mission is to mentor introverts, authors, advocates to unleash their passion and turn it into powerful presentations.
I work with individuals through my signature VIP 8-week mentoring package, 3-month silver, 6-month gold and 12-month platinum mentoring packages and one-day intensives.
My mentoring packages are focussed on the individual and their business. We look at the business as a whole to see where speaking and communication can be leveraged to push productivity and ROI to a new level. This can be as simple as communicating at a network meeting, speaking with clients, speaking with the media, speaking on video or webinars, or as complex as presenting and speaking to large audiences and presenting training workshops. The key is what best suits that individual and business.
I provide workshops for corporations and businesses, one-day community workshops and online programs.
I believe that it is selfish not to share your message. You never know how one word, a paragraph the message that you share may be just what that one person in the audience needs to hear to change their life, to help them start their business, to share their message. My mentoring will give my clients the confidence and self-belief to have those 60 seconds of insane courage to share their message, to step up and speak – to not be selfish.
Believe Act Share – my vision is to give my clients the confidence to believe – to Believe in their message and in themselves, when they truly Believe then I give them the skills in speaking and communication, the strategies and techniques to Act, and then with the confidences and the strategies I mentor them to have the goals, the practical plans, and the knowledge to transform those speaking skills to their business to Share their message and their passion.
I know from personal experience the power of mentoring, I know how the confidence gained from speaking can provide the self-belief to step up in your business and your personal life when you need to and to be confident, coherent and competent to achieve the outcomes you want.
My mission is to provide my clients with that confidence, self-belief, structure, knowledge to grab opportunities when they come to be able to share their message and to speak out when they really need to.
What kind of do you think people make great entrepreneurs?
Great entrepreneurs know how to communicate and share their passion and their message:
“If you can’t communicate and talk to other people and get across your ideas, you’re giving up your potential.” Warren Buffett
Speaking and communication underpin everything we do. It is no good having the best product, the best service, the new invention or new idea if you cannot share that vision with your staff, your peers, your suppliers and your clients. It is a simple fact that effective public speaking and communication skills are extremely good for business.
Why should an investor back you? Why should clients come to your door? Why should people buy your book? Why should people listen to you?
Being able to answer those questions competently, clearly, connecting both intellectually and emotionally is what good speaking skills will do for you and is what will make you not only a great entrepreneur but also a successful entrepreneur. In business today, there is very little activity at any level which does not depend on good communication skills. Public speaking is the tip of the communication iceberg.
Great entrepreneurs grab opportunities when they come. Too often I see people refuse to step up and grab an opportunity because of lack of confidence, lack of self-belief, lack of speaking skills. Speaking skills and strategies give you the confidence and self-belief to grab those opportunities.
The skills that you learn as a public speaker:
- Know your audience
- Know your message – what you want to achieve, what you want the audience to take away
- The structure of your speech
- Attention-catching openings
- Call to action conclusions
- Storytelling
- Connecting with the audience with eye contact, vocal variety, and body language
- Ensuring there is a balance between information and emotional connection
All of these skills are the same skills you need to be an effective communicator to connect with you clients, your customers, your team, your staff, your peers and your suppliers.
Great entrepreneurs know this and include speaking and communication in their marketing and business plans.
Why is word of mouth important to you as a business?
Recommendations from clients and people who know me are vitally important to me. These are 3rd party credibility.
It’s not just me talking about my expertise and knowledge. When others speak of you, they are giving the credibility and the acknowledgement that what you provide works and that you are the expert in your field.
These recommendations highlight the like, know and trust that is the vital ingredient in your business growing.
They also provide me with a guide that what I am doing is meeting the needs of my clients.
