Today in the Spotlight we have an interview with the retailer: Vintage Bean.
Tell us a bit about yourself?
Hi, I am Davina Parkhouse founder and owner of Vintage Bean. I have always had a love of vintage and quirky things. Initially, I started trading as a hobby due to inheriting a vast amount of vintage china. This led to vintage fairs which led to renting space in vintage shops and eventually to opening my open shops in 2015.
What is Vintage Bean all about?
What is your favorite thing about being based in Kettering?
Kettering is my home town which like other small market towns has suffered from the switch of shopping habits to either online or out of town. It is fantastic to be part of an innovative development that is bucking the trend and giving people a reason to return to the town center. We have a lot of loyal customers who love the fact that we are different, offer an old fashioned personal service and provide the quality and breadth of products that you would not expect to find in a midlands market town.
Why is word of mouth so important to you?
Social media and word of mouth have been hugely instrumental in the growth of The Yards and Vintage Bean. Whilst we have engaged in the more traditional marketing methods of newspaper advertisements, local radio appearances, and leaflet drops, personal recommendations have been by far the biggest drive in footfall and business growth. The Yards is a wonderful community of traders who all share and like each other’s posts on social media recommending other traders to their client base.
How have you found using Recommendable so far? And, most importantly, would you recommend it to a friend?
Very It is very simple and easy to use. I’m not exactly digitally savvy and I’ve found Recommendable incredibly easy to set up. It’s been really great to see recommendations come in and I really believe that Recommendable will become an important new way of marketing as is a personal channel to connect with potential new customers.
